Firewalls

TRIUMF blocks a number of LAN protocols (typically file sharing and RPC) at the border. This is sometimes referred to as a "firewall".

Anyone operating a computer or other device on the TRIUMF network is expected to configure access controls which prevent unauthorized access to sensitive or critical operations or data. Where such controls do not exist, for example on legacy equipment,  firewall devices should be installed upstream of the sensitive equipment.
