Remote-Desktop Server

TRIUMF Computing maintains a Windows remote-desktop server that allows you to obtain Windows desktop session from another computer that could be Windows, Linux or Mac.

Server name: TRWINRDS

The main reason for using TRWINRDS is to run a Windows application that is not installed or does not run on your own computer. One of the most common reasons is because you normally use Linux or a Mac.

Accessing your files

There are various options for obtaining access to your files depending on where they are stored.  The most convenient method is built in to the remote-desktop protocol. It can be used to share folders from your local computer (Windows, Linux, or Mac) so that they appear on TRWINRDS as private file-shares.   This method is explained in the next section.
