Windows Desktop backup
TRIUMF Computing services offers a site backup service for Windows desktop computers. Anyone who wants his/her Windows PC to be backup can subscribe to the service by submitting a Helpdesk ticket.
Subscription
Submit a Helpdesk ticket along with the following information. Once we receive your request and the backup agent is installed (see instruction link below), the backup will then be done automatically
- User Name:
- Name of the computer that requires backup:
- Operating system:
- Name of the folder\s that requires backup:
(If folder name is not specified, the backup service will backup c:\users\ on Windows 7 and c:\documents and settings\ on Windows XP by default)
If you need to change the folders that need to be backup or the backup service is longer needed, please advise us.
Schedule
Incremental backup is performed daily and full backup is performed around every 4 weeks. Both incremental and full backup is scheduled in the evening at 9PM. Please make sure your PC is on and it is not set to sleep mode during the backup period.
